Saffron Hall Showcase & Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Update 13 March 2020

Following our statement yesterday regarding the Saffron Hall Showcase which stated that the event would proceed as planned we have a further update this afternoon. We have decided to postpone the showcase due to be held this Sunday at Saffron Hall. We have been monitoring the situation on an hour by hour basis and given there had been a trend towards cancelling large scale events both here in the UK and abroad we feel it is in the best interests of all involved to not hold the showcase as planned. While this is not in line with advice from [...]

Saffron Hall Showcase & Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Official Statement

In light of today’s announcement by the UK Government and Public Health England, we would like to reassure you that Sunday’s showcase at Saffron Hall will take place while the guidance from the relevant authorities remains that there is no medical rationale to close or cancel public events at this time. We appreciate there have been a number of rumours of ‘mass gatherings being banned’, which could be interpreted as people attending a performance at the theatre, there has been no such instruction to us or any of the venues we work with across the country from Public Health [...]

BOOM! 2019 was a circus extravaganza!

This year’s BOOM! students had a fabulous week of circus fun! With a script adapted from the hit musical The Greatest Showman by Phoenix’s Creative Director, Phil Dale, and choreographed by KBD Dance’s principal Katie Barker-Dale, our students acted, danced and sang their way towards their final production of “The Greatest Show! on Friday 23rd August. They also appeared in a short film where they told us all what their one wish would be, which was funny, endearing and occasionally very surprising! With a colourful projected backdrop and spectacular costumes, our audience was transported to the circus, with trapeze [...]

Harrison Houghton on stage at the Almeida

We were lucky enough to grab tickets for this great production of The Hunt, directed by Rupert Goold and with Phoenix Theatre School student Harrison Houghton cast as Peter. It was a gripping, edge of the seat production, with a very dark story line and many tense moments but you just couldn’t look away.  Harrison gave a shining performance as Peter, a young schoolboy who innocently and unwittingly becomes involved in the dark and sinister happenings in his community. The production received excellent reviews and we are very proud of Harrison and hope that this is the start of [...]
