Panto Contract with The Sub Rooms in Stroud Secured We are delighted to be able to announce that we will be returning to pantomime action this Christmas having agreed a 3-year deal to produce pantomime for The Sub Rooms in Stroud, Gloucestershire. This Christmas we will be bringing a production of Beauty and the Beast to Stroud with a 14-performance run from Wednesday 22nd December 2021 through to Saturday 1st January 2022. Phoenix students gain places in the National Youth Theatre No less than 3 Phoenix Senior students have gained places at the prestigious National Youth Theatre. Teddy Pope, Zach Martin and Max Jones will all be off to the University of Northampton for two weeks in early August to train with other talented young performers from all over the UK. Change of Day at Saffron Walden Theatre School From next week our theatre school in Saffron Walden will now take place on Monday nights, moving from Wednesday nights. All class times and the venue will remain the same. We are also welcoming a new teaching team, Nick Delvalle, who trained at Bristol Old Vic Drama School, achieving a BA in Professional Acting, will be leading the class from next week. New Venue for Primary Students in Bishop’s Stortford We have some exciting news for the primary section of our theatre school in Bishop’s Stortford. The school is moving to a new venue from this Wednesday (28th April 2021). The school will be moving to All Saints Primary School on Parsonage Lane in Bishop’s Stortford with all classes held at the same time. The new venue is a stones throw from our Intermediate and Senior classes, held at Birchwood High School, located on the same road. Phoenix Receives High Praise for Online Mental Health Project Thurrock Council have praised Phoenix and Creative Director Phil Dale following the successful completion of an online project to gain insight into young people’s attitudes towards physical and mental health. The project, entitled Boom, was designed by Creative Director Phil Dale and took place during the February Half-term and involved over 30 young people aged between 11 and 18. A vision of 2020 from Razed Roof Theatre Company Razed Roof is an inclusive performance group of people with, and without, Learning Difficulties and Disabilities based in Harlow. Phoenix Creative Director Phil Dale was instrumental in establishing them at Harlow Playhouse where they are still based. We are delighted to announce that following the latest announcements from the government regarding the Coronavirus Lockdown we have been given the green light to return to classes in person at all our theatre school venues from 12th April. From Wednesday 14th April classes will return at the same times in Bishop’s Stortford and Saffron Walden. From Saturday 17th April our classes in Harlow will return. All returns to venues will depend on reaching stage 2 of the government’s plans to ease lockdown.
