The Christmas pantomime which has become regional staple in Hertfordshire may not be as prevalent this year but the staff at All Saints CE Primary and Nursery School were not going to let this Christmas tradition falter without a fight.
A quick call to the region’s favourite panto dame and our Creative Director, Phil Dale, and bibidi bobidi boo like the magical fairy godmother he could well play the children of All Saints were treated to a pantomime experience to rival any trip to the local theatre.
Over 20 of the school’s staff were transformed into panto characters of the past with professional standard costumes and wigs.
Managing Director of Phoenix, Clive Edwards said “It was a delight to be able to do what we do best in a small way this year and help bring the magic of Christmas to the children at All Saints. Embarrassing a few teachers along the way was an added Christmas bonus!”
“It’s really important for us, as a local organisation, to help our local schools as much as we can and given we possess the region’s most infamous panto dame in our ranks can only help”.
In what was a highly exciting day for the pupils, Richard Sanders, the Year 6 teacher at the school and creator of the idea said, “We are so proud of how all of the pupils and families at All Saints have adapted to so many changes at school this term and although the lead up to Christmas has not been quite like it usually is, we wanted to make sure that the children would never forget it!”
He continued “It was decided that all of the staff would dress up as Panto characters for the last day of term, without telling the children. We could not have done this without the fantastic help of Phil Dale and his costume team at Phoenix Theatre Group, who responded instantly to a cheeky request to supply us with costumes.”
