Phoenix Theatre Outdoors is a fantastic five-day summer school experience for both primary and senior school age children from Monday 9th to Friday 13th August. Taking place in the beautiful grounds of The Gibberd Garden in Old Harlow, participants will work outside with a team of theatre professionals to create a unique outdoor theatre event that will be presented to family and friends on the Friday evening.

Each day starts at 10am and runs until 4pm, apart from the Friday when participants will take part in a performance at 6pm.

Yes, for a £50 addition to the fee your child can arrive at any time after 8am and stay until 6pm. They will be cared for by suitably qualified staff.

Participants will work with a team of theatre professionals lead by Phoenix Creative Director Phil Dale to create a unique outdoor theatre piece that will be presented to friends and family on the Friday evening. We promise they will learn new skills, make new friends and have a whole load of fun!

No, the week is open to anyone from age 5 to 18.

No, there will be 2 separate age-appropriate groups. The primary aged children (5 to 11) will work together, and the senior age children (12 to 18) will work together.

Don’t worry, we’ve got that covered. There is enough room onsite to ensure that participants can work undercover whenever we have any adverse weather.

We are aware of the level of concern that many people have around COVID-19 and have been running COVID-19 secure weekly theatre classes since the end of lockdown. The maximum numbers of 30 for each age group are determined by current government guidelines with regards to outdoor activities. We continue to closely follow Government and Public Health England advice so we can monitor and plan accordingly.

Places are limited so we advise booking early to avoid disappointment.
